"I must say, I'm very impressed with that Mr Pietersen. His life story is like Henry IV, V and VI all rolled into one."
Bruce Dickinson. Saying something, I'm not quite sure what, on Kevin Pietersen's successful start as England cricket captain.
I'm pretty sure no one is much bothered, but I thought I'd post this anyway. As it's a thing vaguely relating to things people on this message board are meant to be into.
What are people's opinions on metal bands and sports? Could you imagine Iced Earth being good at ice hockey, for example? Alice Cooper is pretty handy at golf, I know.

I'm fairly sure Maiden play football. At least, they like to dress up as footballers. But they like to dress up as a lot of things, so that might not necessarily mean anything.

Yeah Maiden often play in celebrity 5-a-sides. Quite handy 5 members plus a sub. Though most of them support West Ham.
They're also good friends with Gazza apparently.

Bruce Dickinson can also fence to a pretty high competition level allegedly as well! He's just so damn talented...

At the end of the '80s Dickinson was at the peak of his fencing career, eventually ranked as high as 7th in Great Britain in the men's foil discipline, while his club side, the Hemel Hempstead Fencing Club, represented Great Britain in the European Cup of 1989.

Damn, is there anything that man can't do? If I ever adopt an African baby, I'm going to name him/her Bruce Dickinson Esq. in honour of a man who presumably fences as he rocks: tastefully.

And there I was thinking you'd call your child Cicero...
On a serious note I think Mr Dickinson also flies aeroplanes, for he is a man of many talents.

It was only a matter of time until someone looked him up on wikipedia, turns out it was me:
Wow so he's a historian as well! That explains the original comment in this thread. I wonder what his novels are like too.

I'd only call the child of someone who did me a wrong Cicero as a cruel nickname. I'd bully them relentlessly, and exile them, and knock their house down (which is a rubbish Classics reference which no one will get. Well done Lloyd).
That he's a historian also helps to explain the high quality historical narrative you can find in many Iron Maiden songs. Apparently his novels include "The Adventures of Lord Iffy Boatrace" and "The Missionary Position." Boy oh boy, I sure do know what my next Amazon purchases will be!!

You can get a hardback copy of "The Adventures of Lord Iffy Boatrace" for a mere £100...

He's just released a biopic film about the Life of Aleister Crowley.
He's released at least one album every year since 1978 as either Samson, Maiden or Bruce Dickinson. His radio show on BBC6 is not bad either. Also recently the BBC used him as their correspondant covering XL's collapse as he was one of the pilots doing the rescue flights.
Cool, though he is he can be a bit of an arse too though, if anyone remembers the Ozzy-eggs incident a while ago.

And he recently joined the same club as one of my bestest friends. Aparently he's pretty good, but rather aggressive. My friend has now fought him twice, and beaten him 15-10 and 15-5. Clearly past his best. Unfortunately, my friend is more interested in folk music than metal, but nonetheless acknowledges that Bruce is awesome. I'm trying to convince him to invite him out for a pint afterwards... I'd only call the child of someone who did me a wrong Cicero as a cruel nickname. I'd bully them relentlessly, and exile them, and knock their house down (which is a rubbish Classics reference which no one will get. Well done Lloyd). Watch out that someone doesn't hire a bunch of ex-gladiators (Wolf? Shadow? Trojan, even), attack you on the road, and then chase you down and murder you in a bar.
